In addition he has an ability to be extremely calm when placed in difficult situations. Ender is a great leader. He was sent to be a commander at battle school and since the beginning he has shown great promise as a ton’ leader and eventually as a commander of Dragon army. Ender knows exactly how to infuse confidence, abilities, and harmony in all of those who he is around with. Throughout this process in Battle School ender has taken the best out of the people who he leads no matter their age, size or abilities.

As he is met with difficult halogens, he and his soldiers get through every one them under his excellent leadership. For this very reason Ender was picked to become one of the best commanders the International Fleet has seen. He is to be the one who once again extinguishes the bugger’s and saves humankind from ever being attacked again. Because of this, his abilities are constantly put to test and he is watched at every moment because they have to ensure he becomes what he is expected. Most Of the adults in the Battle School are constantly working against Ender, always thinking of new challenges to test Mender’s abilities.

They try to mold him into the person they want him to be. It is known that Ender is not the only child prodigy in Battle School; there are many kids like him. One example can be Bean, who is arguably smarter than Ender from what we have seen. This shows us that no matter how smart Ender is, he is always, going to run himself into people as smart or smarter than him. But each time, Ender will eventually find a way to beat them just as he always does. Ender is a third child, which is this futuristic society apparently people are not allowed to have more than two children.

Because f this, Ender is branded as a Third at School and at home, with Peter, because there are no other Thirds like him. Ender feels isolated in society and he feels like an outcast. He feels alone, in part because he is forced to leave home; away from his loving sister, Valentine. Ender struggles with this feeling for most of the story, even as he is developing in his leadership and getting past many of his other weaknesses. Even though he might not be like one, Ender is still a child so his battle with these feelings of isolation is real because of this many readers may sympathize Enders situation.

Ender is very emotional, he feels attachment to everyone he is around. Ender feels compassion for others and shows empathy at times. It gets to the point that Ender feels extremely sorry for every time he physically or emotionally hurts somebody. And as the story moves one it gets to the point that Ender is depressed because of several situations. Because of his emotions he cannot advance in his process of learning and that is a big problem for this future commander-to-be. Ender has an older brother, Peter, but they are enemies, linked only by blood.

Peter hates Ender, he used to constantly tell Ender that he was going to kill him and at many times he did attempt to do it. He mocked Ender and made him feel lonely and as they played Bugger’s and Aliens Peter abused of his strength and abused Ender. Ender fears Peter and he hates the idea of what he represents. Peter is violent, he is a killer and every time Ender has to be violent to solve a situation he hates himself for it because he despises the idea of what Peter is and did to him. Nevertheless, in a way Peter serves as a motivation for Ender to succeed in battle school.

Ender wants to become a commander who does not turn to violence as his first choice to solve a problem. Ender wants to treat his soldiers according to how they deserve and he does not want to abuse of their power over them. But yet he does not want to beat his brother he just wants to earn his love and respect. After some time Ender realized that Peter may have be right after all because the power to cause pain, kill and destroy is the only power that matters. If he does not possess this power he will always be subject to those who have it and no one will save him from them.

Ender has a sister, Valentine, whom Ender mostly trusts. Valentine loves his little brother unconditionally, and Ender loves her back. Ender constantly needs Valentine’s love to remind him that he is human and that he is not just like Peter. This can bee seen at the part where ender cannot stop seeing himself in the mirror without the image of Peter in the mind game. For this, he started to hate himself because he was turning into the very thing he hated most. Ender was very angry and hateful, feelings, which were not healthy for the process of becoming a leader.

The mind game was influencing his performance and process or learning at battle school. Then, when Valentine wrote to him he came at peace with himself and was back to the Ender we all know. Ender was her little brother, she always protected him from the ferocious acts of their big brother, Peter. But after some time battle school had left a mark in Ender, he had forgotten what Valentine’s kind touch was. He then figured out that she was being manipulated by Graff to do what he wanted and he knew that she was working along Peter once again; Ender knew he was again alone.

But even though, he did not care. Valentine was still his motivation to become a Commander, to protect her from all evil; just as she did with him with Peter. Mender’s relationship with Graff is different. Ever since Graff betrayed his trust and purposely isolated him, Ender knew Graff was not there to be his friend. Because of this, Ender distances himself from and does not have a personal connection to Graff. Graff is the one who is in charge of Mender’s development. His purpose is to ensure the international fleet that Ender gets the proper education and setting so he becomes what they want of him.

Graff needs Ender abilities and leadership, so he tests and exploits him. Because of Ender Graff has many times changed the rules of the game, and tries to throw Ender off balance imposing different obstacles every time. He knows Graff is attempting to control him to train him and because of that he is constantly challenged. Now that Ender is a commander of his own army he has many people under him, in this process he meets Bean. Although he is very young and small, he is another brilliant kid who wants to make a name for himself in battle school, just as Ender did.

Bean is very similar to Ender because of his ululates and how he outshines his colleagues in the army. Bean has proven that he is a genius himself and he has confronted Ender just as Ender himself did with his commander Bonze. Ender hates himself because he what it means to exceed a commanders expectations. In order to bring out the best in bean he has to challenge his abilities and break him just as Graff does with him. Bean is a represents a challenge in Mender’s leadership, Ender must not pity him and lose and opportunity to develop a great soldier.
