Moyse taught at both the Paris Conservatory from 1932-1940 and at the Geneva Conservatory until 1949, when he emigrated from Argentina to North America. There he became one of the founders of the Marlboro Music Festival, where he taught from 1949 to 966. From 1961 until his death, he gave yearly master classes for flutists and woodwind players in Brattleboro, W, and Switzerland and England. Herbert Jay Solomon also known as Herbie Mann was an American jazz flautist. His first professional performance was playing a resort at age 15.

In the 1950s, Mann was primarily a bop flutist, playing in combos with artists such as Phil Woods. In 1959, he recorded Flutista, an album of Afro-Cuban jazz. In 1961 Mann toured Brazil, returning to the United States to record with Brazilian musicians, including Antonio Carlos Jobim and guitarist Baden Powell.. In the late 1970s and early 1980s Mann played duets at New York City’s Bottom Line and Village Gate clubs, with Sarod virtuso Vasant Raj. His last appearance was on May 3, 2003, at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and he died less than two months later on July 1, 2003 at the age of 73.

Briccialdi’s body of work also includes several books of etudes and woodwind quintets. Johann Joachim Quantz was one of the first professional flute players in 18th century Europe. Quantz began as a town musician, means he was trained to play all instruments, but after getting a spot in the Dresden court ensemble, he began to play flute in 1719. In 1741, Quantz entered the service of Frederick the Great of Prussia.
