Mind and People
How do you perceive people with tattoos? Do you think of them as troubled souls who desperately need help with personal issues? Why is it now that we live in a society that thinks its okay to judge people of their appearance? I just turned 18 a couple weeks ago and two days after I turned 18 I got my first tattoo. My aunt had commented her opinion and had stated not to get a tattoo on my wrist because of the job I want. But reality is that she had no idea on what I was feeling. Earlier in the summer, I was in a state where I lost myself and my demons that I’ve been holding in for a long time started to come out into the world.
I was afraid, and to top everything off I had to undergo intense therapy for my severe depression and anxiety. It was a lot that I had to go through in the summer, but also to the point where I had to admit that it was the lowest point of my life. Now I was thinking on those terms for getting a tattoo. I had gone through the toughest time in my life and now I want a reminder, motivation, something to keep me going when I am having bad days. Now day’s average people are getting tattoos that mean something to them.
Many get tattoos because they remind them to keep going, remind them of someone who has passed on. It’s a beautiful piece of art that expresses stories that people go through. Why would someone discriminate another person with tattoos? Oh I know! Because many people are closed minded! Partially it’s some people who have tattoos for no reason make the rest of us look like bad rebels! They just get one because they think their cool? Like really?! Why would you get one! I think that every person should have a reason why their getting a tattoo.
It’s crazy how people view things, and I’m not saying that you can’t view thing the way you want but at least try and be opened minded. It’s like the saying “Don’t judge a book by its cover” yet were still judging people before we even get to know them. It pisses me off that there are people who still judge! Why can’t we all get along! Now I’m not afraid to tell my story on why I wanted to get my tattoo. I have seen many people who look at me as if I’m an alien with the tattoos. If you want a picture so you can look at them all you want I will sure gladly give you one!
The day I got my tattoo I felt like a different person. I felt as if I can take on anything this world can throw at me! I’m not afraid of what people think. Yea, I’m 18, overweight, and have tattoos on wrists, so what? I love who I am! No one can bring me down anymore! These tattoos empower people; they inspire one person to another. If you think about it, people who judge and discriminate are people who aren’t as strong as people with tattoos. They had life handed to them a different way that they don’t understand where we come from.
Were stronger than they are and we can express ourselves better than they can. Now this is where I’m going to say how it is. People that have tattoos are beautiful in their own unique ways, no one should judge anyone. Tattoos do not symbolize bad people. Because in reality we are people with caring hearts and we have a passion for something bigger and better for ourselves spiritually and mentally. People with tattoos shouldn’t be judged which the point I’m trying to make. We all have a story to tell so take time to read other people’s stories and be inspired of their outcomes of a better life.
