Therefore he hospitality is facing some issues, challenges and trends in the future. All the sectors in hotel industry contributed the most negative influence on the environment, for examples, pollution, waste, greenhouse gases and all the environmental hazards.

Another issue is about the society, for example, the supply chain, the local community, the workplace and the customers. For examples, water, food, energy saving and dispose the wastes. Hilltop’s mission is about “living sustainable” which is also the primary goal. In order to reduce the carbon emission, consumption of energy and the output of waste, they set up some sustainability goals.

The outcome is great, which they achieved the goals by 20 percent at the end Of 2013. (Overview 2014) The primary sustainability issue for Hilton is that the range of properties is very large. For instance, the resorts which have the only one ecosystems in the world and the hotels which have more than 1 000 rooms in the big cities in the world. Hilton also provided information for the sales teams to use “meeting calculator” properly. ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 are standards for organizations to follow and implement the policies.

Hilton received the certificate of ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 for quality and environmental management systems, and the third- party assessor, DAKAR Certification will keep assessing the sustainability performance of Hilton in the future. Hilton is interested in finding ways to reduce the consumption of energy, as it is one of the most expenses for a hotel. “In the U. S. , we purchased more than 450 million kilowatt hours of green power through

December 31, 2012. These purchases were enough to meet 94 percent of the annual electricity use in our owned hotels in the United States. ” The consequence of purchasing the green power is that Hilton avoided about 80 million tons of carbon dioxide, which equals to emissions from 43000 cars. Furthermore, Hilton Worldwide was named as one of the four Green Power Partners of the Year in 2012.
