Label Petri dishes dark, closed, normal, closed no CA 3. Take one leaf from a plant in each try 4. Immerse leaf in boiling water for 1 minute 5. Remove the pigments by immersing each leaf in hot 95% ethyl alcohol 6. When most of the pigment is removed, remove the leaf from the hot alcohol; dip each leaf in hot water again for a few seconds 7. Place each leaf in the Petri dish and cover it with 3 drops of iodine solution. Allow leaf to sit for a few minutes. 8. Remove the leaf and dip into a beaker of clean water to rinse it.

Based on my experimental design I know that starch is a product of photosynthesis because all of the plants tested produced starch and all the plants photosynthesis. If the plants were unable to produce starch they would die because the plant would not be able to store excess glucose for later. 6. All plants require light, soil, air, and water. Plants use CA from the air to make sugars and starches for the plant to use them as food. Soil is necessary because it gives the plant the nutrients it needs. Water helps the plant grow strong and sturdy, but water is also critical for photosynthesis because transpiration is need for photosynthesis to take place. 7. Conclusion: I accept my first hypothesis, which stated; If the plant that is not exposed to CA is kept in a closed environment, then the plants starch level ill be a 1 because it’s missing a necessary condition for photosynthesis to occur. After the process was completed the plant with no CA had a starch level of 1, this was because CA is needed for the plant to make sugars. I accept my second hypothesis; If a plant is kept in closed environment, then it will have a starch level of 3 because although it’s in a closed environment it has all the necessary environmental conditions.
