You will use your completed Synthesis Chart and your source material during these lessons, and you will complete a DETAILED outline for your research paper. You will submit this outline in place of the rough draft assignment in Unit 2 Lesson 11. Unit 2 Lesson 1 1- Research Paper Outline In this lesson, you will complete a DETAILED outline for your research paper. You do NOT have to complete a full rough draft of your research paper as it says in your lessons. Please use the fill-in-the-blank outline to complete this assignment. The outline is posted on the Message Board under Portfolio

Information> Unit 2 Research Paper> Research Paper Outline. You may type directly on this document. The introduction section of your outline should include an interesting lead in or “hook” to interest readers in your topic. It should also include a complete thesis statement that introduces your topic as well as all of the main points you will cover in the body of your paper. In the body paragraph sections of your outline, you will adapt your research questions into topic sentences for each major section of your research paper. Please do NOT simply copy and paste your research questions.

You MUST urn these questions into clear and concise statements. Also, you MUST use information from your sources in the supporting details sections for each body paragraph. An internal citation MUST be included with your source information. In the conclusion section of your outline, you will restate your thesis, and you will wrap up the main points discussed in your paper. Please remember that restating your thesis means to say it in a different way. Do NOT simply copy and paste the same thesis statement used in your introduction. You will also submit your completed Works Cited page along with your outline.

All sources used in your paper should be listed on your Works Cited page in alphabetical order by the tattoos LAST name. If no author is available, please use the title of the article. If you do not remember how to do an internal citation or how to complete the Works Cited page, please see the examples in the ML Style Guide. Unit 2 Lesson 13- Self-Assessment Checklist In Lesson 13, you will CAREFULLY review your outline, looking for any areas where you may need to add more source information or revise the information used BEFORE you write the entire paper. Please use the self- assessment checklist to complete this assignment. The self-assessment checklist is posted on the Message Board under Portfolio Information> unit 2 Research paper> Self-Assessment Checklist.

You will submit your completed elf-assessment checklist to the drop box in Lesson 13. Unit 2 Lessons 14-16- Research Paper Final Draft In these lessons, you will work on creating the final draft of your research paper and your Works Cited page. Research papers should be at least FOUR double-spaced pages long plus the Works Cited page. Please do not forget to include internal citations within the body of your paper. There is a sample research paper posted on the Message Board under Portfolio Information> unit 2 Research Papers Research Paper- Student Sample. You may use this example to see what your research paper should look like.

You will submit the final draft of your research paper to the drop box in Lesson 16. Extra Credit: You may earn 1 0 points extra credit if you complete a second self-assessment checklist AFTER you have written the final draft of your paper and submit this to the drop box in Lesson 16 along with your research paper final draft. Check My Work- BEFORE you submit your research paper, you MUST submit your paper to Check My Work using the link provided in the Links section of your homepage in Consensus. Please include the Check My Work link at the bottom of your research paper.

Any paper submitted without a Check My Work link tit receive a 5 point reduction in points. Here are instructions on how to use Check My Work- 1 . Click on the Check My Work link on your Homepage in Consensus. (This link may be found in the blue “Links” section of your Homepage. ) 2. Select your section (this is your class name). For example- “English B. ” 3. Type in the title Of the assignment you are submitting. For example- “Licit 1 Summary. ” 4. You may either copy/paste or upload your file to the “My Work” section. ; To copy/ paste, select the button next to “Enter Text” and then copy and paste your work into the box. To upload your file, click on the button next to “Upload. ” A Browse button will appear where you may select a file from your computer and upload it. 5. Click on the blue Submit button. 6. It may take a few moments for your report to generate. Once you see the screen change to say “View the Originality Report,” you will have the link to your report. Please copy this link and paste it to the bottom of your writing assignment. 7. Check your Originality Report BEFORE you submit your assignment to the drop box in Consensus. 8. To view your report, copy the link and paste it into a new browser window.
