Power TripMen thought out history have had all the power and authority. And women were suppose to be nice and basely serients. But in the novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey, women have all the power and manipulate the male patients on the ward. We see this with Big Nurse power over the ward; Billy Bibbits mother power over Billy, and Hard wife power over Harding.
Big Nurse who maintains her power by messing with their minds. After McMurphy first day, there call her a “ball-cutter”. The Chief says “ a mistake was made somehow in manufacturing, putting those big, womanly breast on what otherwise would have been a perfect work, and you can see how bitter she is about it (11)”. Because this she rules such power she hates herself and in turned make patenting hate themselves. She also has power because she is physically powerful   “but the Big Nurse has come up quietly, locked her on his, paralyzes him all the way to the shoulder (35)”.Big Nurse power over the ward show that she controls people who would he her boss like Dr.Spivey. Big Nurse weakens her patients though careful, twisting program to destroy her patients until they all under her power.Billy’s mom is preventing Billy to become adult. And because this Billy commits suicide. Billy mom is very mad mom Chief says, “ I had to admit she didn’t look like a mother of any kind (247)”. Billy’s mom does not seem to understand that Billy is adult and is able to live in the outside world. When his mom say’s that he can still go to college.
Bond2Billy tells his mom that he is 31 years old, she say’s, “sweetheart, do I look like the mother of a middle- aged man (247)”. Billy’s mom being over him is shown then and when the Nurse catches him with candy. That she goes to tell his mom, because of this he kill’s him self.
