ESSAY STRUCTURE RELIGION

Christianity, Islam, and Judaism have many similarities and many differences. They are all Abrahamic religions and worship the same God. Each religion requires its followers to adhere to a certain moral code and show devotion to God through prayer. One area of difference is in their view of Jesus Christ. Christians believe Jesus to be the messiah and son of God. Muslims consider him to be a prophet, though they do not believe in his resurrection. In Judaism, Jesus is not believed to be the messiah or the son of God.

Each religionalsohas a set of core-beliefs in it of itself which dictate the behavior and moral compass of its followers. For example, Islam closely follows the concept of The Five Pillars, which include faith, prayer, charity, fasting and pilgrimage to Mecca and these are found in the Koran. In the Judaism religion, the Ten Commandments found in the book of exodus. Similar to the five pillars ofIslam, these commandments are essentially principles written by God himself for his followers to practice in order to maintain their relationship pure with God and one another. Christians follow a similar set of beliefsstated in theNew Testamentwith a few others such as missionary activity which is an organized effort to spread Christianity and repentence which describes a stage in Christian salvation where thebeliever strays away from sin, such as seen onSt. Augustine’s Confessions book.
All three religions share the same belief that all humans are “children of Abraham”, meaning that human beings are the highest creatures on earth and that we are children of Abraham. Theyalso share the idea that we are all capable of doing good and evil, and that when all grow in goodness, righteousness and love we become closer to how God intended us to be.
