Assessment Ethic Game Dilemmas
After completing The Ethics Game Simulations: The Mysterious Blogger and The Veiled ID some ethical issues become apparent. Furthermore, when participating in the simulation one needs to take ethical decision-making steps to address the issues. Throughout the simulation there is a series of four lenses that one must complete to help with making decisions and these lenses show different perceptions of one’s character. These concepts can apply to me in my workplace.
The ethical issue that is apparent in The Mysterious Blogger and the Veiled ID is about information I have obtained from a known as Jamal More. This information informs me that Aaron Webb has hacked into my company’s security software by working backward and by using a trace program. Because I am the manager of Safety and Efficiency it is my duty to be attentive and handle the issue. The main ethical issue I face is if I should use the information I have to discipline Aaron Webb for violating NDA and look at how this situation will influence my company. After handling this situation I also have to implement some changes with the company’s security system that requires employees to carry key cards with his or her photograph on it. However, Aisha Mullah is a Muslim woman whose faith prevents her from showing her face.
Ethical decision-making steps needed to make these decisions include becoming attentive, intelligence, reasonable, and responsible. The first step in making ethical decisions is to be attentive. I need to get facts and gather information. Next I need to be intelligent by identifying the issues and the primary stakeholders. Furthermore, I need to act on the information that I have reasonably. I can do this by conceding my duties and look for the greatest good and to be fair. Last I need to be responsible by developing a balanced solution that…
