We are all American citizens and there are many things that we stand for and that need to change. We want social mobility, liberty, freedom of speech, religion, and the American Dream. We are all equal and no one should be treated unfairly. Yes, there are problems in the world but that can change, we just all need to find that one spot where we can work together. The world doesn’t need to be a complete disaster. American citizens should be proud to say they are from the United States. I feel that all American citizens should live by the Pledge of Allegiance, you are pledging that you will stand for the republic. Live under God, and show that we are a country with liberty and justice for every American Citizen there is. When immigrants come to America they are looking for more than just rights and privileges. Their real desire is to become something that shows pride and honor, an American. Being an American means much more than living in the United States. Along with the name comes a number of different benefits such as, freedom of speech to express your own opinion, freedom of religion, and equality for all, including different sexes, races, religions and status. As an American we stand for freedom, and social moblility. No American should lose hope in our society. We are a world that will pick up from our mistakes and learn from them.
The social mobility in an America defines citizens in a powerful way. It has gotten worse through the years and it is continuing to decline because of the recession. Research has shown that American teens are less likely than foreign teens to grow up to be more successful than their parents. The differences between high and low mobility would have to be early education, family structure, and the physical geography of metropolitan areas.
